The Swedish Obese Subjects study [25] demonstrated a significant reduction in overall cancer incidence following bariatric surgery, with a 40 % decrease observed in women. More recently, a large cohort study by Aminian et al. [26] showed that patients undergoing metabolic surgery had significantly lower rates of obesity-associated cancers and nearly 50 percent lower cancer-specific mortality after 10 years compared to matched non-surgical controls.
