Lacto-ovo-vegetarians (LOV) and non-vegetarians (NV) showed similar increases in quadriceps femoris muscle thickness (QFMT) after 12 weeks of strength training (ST) (LOV: 9.2 ± 5.4 mm; NV: 5.5 ± 8.1 mm).

Both vegetarians and non-vegetarians can achieve similar muscle growth from strength training.

StrongSupportsmedium confidence
After 12 weeks, similar increases in QFMT (LOV: 9.2 ± 5.4; NV: 5.5 ± 8.1 mm) were observed in both groups at the end of the training period ( p < 0.05).
